The Butterworth Gallery Online – A year on and going strong!
It’s been just over a year since the gallery’s move to running exclusively online and we wanted to share a little of what we’ve been up to!
We have enjoyed some benefits and faced new challenges that come without having a gallery space.
Since moving online one of our main focuses has obviously become the website. Upgrading and adding to the website for the best customer experience has been one of our highest priorities.
We added a brand new chat function and created new sections with more detailed information and support required for customers to confidently shop with us. Our friendly, welcoming, personal touch remains key to our service online - based on our reviews we have managed to accomplish this on the website and across Google, Instagram and Facebook.
We recently added Klarna as a new payment method for print editions and continue to offer Own Art for Original artwork allowing customers to easily pay by instalment on their purchases.
As Howard has now retired we have hosted a number of successful online archive exhibitions with exclusive previews of previously unseen works for our client mailing list.
We are continuing to explore Howard’s private archive and collection, re-discovering some iconic paintings, beautiful unseen work, sketches and stories which we have enjoyed sharing.
Clients have been taking advantage of informal bespoke zoom appointments with Sarah which allows buyers the chance to view and discuss the paintings, asking any questions they may wish. A new selection of original work by Howard & Mary will be available to view online at the end of November.
Local and international buyers across the world have been exploring Howard's archive of original landscape paintings by appointment and via zoom.
Over the years Howard has travelled with his easel, painting in many different locations and seasons en plein air capturing the beauty, mood and colours of Scotland, Spain and more.
We are happy to take requests from clients and search for special locations, themes and seasons for clients, offering a bespoke service for art collectors to find their perfect match of original artwork by Howard Butterworth. This service even includes building bespoke shipping crates for the paintings!
We have reacquainted our relationships with galleries such as the McEwan Gallery , who display a small selection of original artwork by Howard. Our local stockists continue to grow with the recent addition to St Machar's Cathedral in Old Aberdeen, and featuring in the interior of The Cleavin Barber Club on Union Street. Donside Frames in Inverurie showcases a wide selection of our print editions.
Our "Meet up & Drop Off" delivery option offers an informal, friendly approach to local customers (within 35 km) where pick up can be mutually arranged. We continue to help customers with their framing choices and our local pick up service.
Adding to the many wonderful establishments that feature work from the gallery, we are proud to have consulted on artwork for the interior of the recent refurbishment and launch of the Forbes Arms Hotel at the Bridge of Alford.
And finally ‘Pop up’ season is here again and we love it as a way to stay in touch with our community & clients. After the success of last years events Sarah and Mary will be back this winter season for some face to face events which are a great opportunity to arrange for pickups, special print requirements and ask for advice with a purchase. We can't wait to see you there!
