Fresh dawn light, calming sleepy skies and fiery sunsets feature in this exhibition which is selected from Howard's archive and private family collection.
The title and concept for this retrospective exhibition came from the discovery of two paintings in the family collection painted en plein air, both on the longest day in the 1980s. Howard had stayed up to experience and capture the beauty of the Summer Solstice. The first of the duo was painted at sunset and the second canvas was created in the early hours of the morning so early that he captured bats still flying over the artists hen shed as a new dawn began.
